A friend is in the middle of their house construction and now has moved on to the installation of fixtures – lightning fixtures, tiles and bathroom fixtures. She has a hard time deciding among the bath tubs she saw online. She claims there were hundred to choose from. It doesn’t help that she discovered she can order discount clawfoot tubs online. She is a big fan of those lady romantic novels dating back to the Victorian age where there are dukes and earls. If you don’t understand what I am talking about, here is a clawfoot tub:

Looks so nice, isnt it? For me it is very feminine. So it posed a big problem getting her husband to agree because he might not fit into the tub comfortably.

Her husband actually preferred quality walk in tubs because they are  space saver. However she got her wish by getting the usual bath tub on their master bedroom and getting the walk in tubs for the guest room.

The one you see on the right actually holds around 80 gallons of water. I actually like it but since it’s 30 inches deep, I’m pretty sure my kids will be splashing water to the floor all the time. But it is the perfect solution to the bathrooms with little space like ours.

October flew by so quickly. Can you believe we are now just two weeks away (actually 10 days away) from November. December will come and go and before we know it, it’s already 2009. While I am so proud and happy of the accomplishments and changes that have happened this year, I am anxious about the state of our financial savings. Living on a one-income household is really draining. Even if I get to do some sideline work.

I have made a resolution to put aside a fixed 10% from my monthly earnings from my sideline job as savings. I know, this “should” be mandatory but we really have not been diligent with this. Maybe if we have enough we can look into trusted ways to let it grow. Investing on the dollar is too risky – so it encompasses mutual funds and trust funds. Monex Precious Metals are actually a good, steady (stable) investment. Gold and silver are worth more than ever because world demand has exceeded world production.

I would need to consult this with my husband and let us see if we can afford to get even one bar!

I have somebody (or some thing) to blame on the internal chaos that has (and is) happening to me the past few weeks.

The Mercury Retrograde

In general, Mercury rules thinking and perception, processing and disseminating information and all means of communication, commerce, education and transportation. By extension, Mercury rules people who work in these areas, especially people who work with their minds or their wits: writers and orators, commentators and critics, gossips and spin doctors, teachers, travellers, tricksters and thieves.

I have been much of a thinker lately, waaaaay much more than my usual self (which is a lot if you think about it). And I have also been more sensitive about everything.

Mercury retrograde gives rise to personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains. And all of these problems usually arise because some crucial piece of information, or component, has gone astray or awry.

It is therefore not wise to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since it is very likely that these decisions will be clouded by misinformation, poor communication and careless thinking. Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics tend to be less acute than usual, as the critical faculties are dimmed. Make sure you pay attention to the small print!

 

I am glad I have not really committed myself to anything this week or else I might have regretted it.

And disclaimer, I’m not much of a believer in the sun and the star signs but it is nice to blame some things which we cannot explain to “fated” signs and phenomena.

I have a confession to make.

I haven’t read a book in years – I think 4 years? Exclude Harry Potter books from the confession though. I am so behind. I so want to read but books are  a bit pricier these days and I have to admit Id rather spend it on digital kits and now since money is tight, it needs to go to out budget.

E-books would save me but I simply cannot stand to read a BOOK worth 500 pages when I spend most of the day in front of it already working to death (Yes Im being sarcastic on that one).

A friend has recommended getting myself a PDA. PDAs would allow me to read ebooks while laying down in bed or when Im bored somewhere else.

The handheld Treo would be good for me.

Another one on my wishlist.

1. Lose 20 lbs. I CAN DO THIS!!!!
2. Have Shutterfly books (these are personalized books) printed - I have a goal of five - and guess what? I have only finished one
3. Have a nice, calm, not rushing Christmas season. December 1 all must be done! I need to mail Christmas cards by November too
4. Save 10% of earnings starting November. That way we can at least have savings for 2009. LOL!
