I have sworn to run this week. I kept my rubbershoes, some socks, track pants and couple of shirts (with change) at my parents’ place so that whenever I come there I can always run at the treadmill! The treadmill is in front of the TV so I can watch. However, I always have Martha in tow with me so it gets a little harder - I need to endure Shrek or Elmo or worse, Barney! Who will get motivated to run after that? Id need MP3 players to keep running.

I just got some bad news that two of our family friends has lost their homes in the US because they couldnt keep up with the monthly mortgage payments anymore. That and the news the employment there has been having massive lay-offs and retrenchments. Even big companies are in freeze hiring. If this crisis can happen in a big wig country like the US, what more small countries (add to that a country laden with corrupt officials and a government filled with red tape) like the Philippines?

It really is a crisis.
God help us.

Blur Blur Blur

I see blurry things lately and hate to admit I might need eyeglasses - me who had perfect vision despite of working in front of the PC for five years and studying endless nights nursing books. It might be high blood pressure or high blood sugar - in which case, Id gladly take the blurry eye vision

The problem is, I dont look nice wearing them. I dont have a nice straight nose and my eyes are too small to get recognized in glasses. I think I need the fashion police aka my sister Agnes to help me. LOL.

Any suggestions which glasses are nice to wear for a round face frame like mine?

Digital Frame

I need to find a way to display our thousands of pictures. And voila! I found a solution - I can get a digital frame!

It would be such a cool thing to own especially with us who has tons of pictures - I can display our recent ones without having to pull money out for printing - and I can change it to my liking. My sister-in-law has one and they bought it from China where it is cheaper. I might have to request they buy two for me once they go back there.

Things I Learned without the Maids

1. I learned that I really do not like to cook. Id rather eat bread, eat out and eat anything that doesnt require me to cook. Edil cooked breakfast for the whole weekend. Truly.

2. I learned that I cannot live without running water. Hence, Im bombarding my parents with pleas to look for another house. Yes, I want to move again. Same big house, but with running water please.

3. I learned that Im naturally and instinctively lazy. I need to force myself to work.

4. I learned that I really need a maid. I lost $50 worth of work because I needed to do the work of the maids. And for $50, which I would have earned in a day, that would be enough for their salary. So yes, bring on the maid.

I need more clothes.

I want more lounge pants and babydolls for myself soon. Since Im always at home, I just want to be in my jammies all day Ill use the babydolls when I sleep. I dont care much for jeans and tanks anymore. But the jammies I really need. I think I would need to wait for the next storewide GAP sale.

The Bahay Kubo Mansion

I was able to watch it at Mel and Joey last night. They featured it and I was just blown away with all the features the architect (who was also the owner of the house) added to it. It had high ceilings, plenty of greens and lots and lots of water. Which to me, all boils down to this - fresh air! (I think that is a must for me from now on). Most of his furniture was made of kawayan/bamboo or coconut. The sconce was made out of husks. It was sooo nice!

Hearty Weekend

We had a nice weekend. Edil got his quarterly incentive pay so we had the chance to take out the kids on Saturday. We went to the mall, ate pizza, bought some things for the kids, came home dead tired and then watched replays again and again of Toy Story. Sunday we went to my parents’ house where there was salad, potato balls, steak and spaghetti. Oh gosh, I seriously would need to order more weight loss pills after what I ate last weekend. Im going to my parents’ house to work on the treadmill too, let’s hope the extra calories will be burned faster.

Backyard Improvements.

We had the backyard area fenced in with what is the allowable place for the children to play about. We also had some laundry lines put up - we needed more. Now the next project is to fix the laundry area and elevate the watershed - we need cement for this. I hope the outdoor lighting will be changed as well. I want white lights and we still have yellow bulbs on the lights at the back. One project at a time, I know. Patience.
