We all remember the disaster that Hurricane Katrina brought upon New Orleans, Louisiana. The hurricane happened in 2005, three years ago but its effects are long-lasting and still felt up until this day. When you go to New Orleans, there are still areas of home wreckage. It is sad actually. I know there are organizations helping to build homes for people there. Schumacher Homes Louisiana gives chances for people to rebuild their homes. The most famous celebrity I think ever to help out is Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt even constructing several houses with his own funds to have people new homes.

We need to replace our king-sized bed. It has seen better days and with our smaller room, having it there will give us very little walking room. Im partial to getting a sofa bed or day bed. Or I might just get an air bed so we can be safe of bed bugs - Martha is being bitten every night and it’s such a pain. An Air Mattress Guide should do the trick - I need to read more about how to maintain it, how to store it and where to get it. At least with air beds, we can use them when guests come over.

I started getting serious about losing weight on the last week of July. I was able to lose 12 lbs in 5 weeks then got sick (I lost 15lbs then). After getting better, I let myself go again and I can feel Im slowly gaining all what Ive worked hard to lose for back. So I need to get serious again. If I can be classified as obsessed with scrapbooking, there are people who are obsessed with beautification – pampering others. But are short on cash to get a new wardrobe. Spice it up with accessories. You get to save, spend less on new things and most of all, you can use it with all your existing wardrobe. There are now Discount Jewelry which can pass up for the real thing yet it is perfectly safe to use everyday. My sisters use bangles, stacked bracelets, lots of earrings and necklaces all the time. I actually have quite a few I dont use myself.

The nice thing about these types of jewelries is that it can be quite funky and modern and yet retain the classic elegance of jewelry – at least you are wearing jewelry even if you really cant afford to get one – for now.

Lovely.

I have a cousin who is a senior engineer in a telecommunications company. You would not believe how complicated and large and well, daunting, their day to day operations are. Listening to him talk I am scared of a database crash or system failure. It will affect MILLIONS of customers, myself included. Server Backup Software is something every company should invest on I know. And it is a good thing almost all companies have enough common sense to get this.

Millions of businesses and their clients rely on information technology for their day to day lives. It is scary how we depend so much on it, isnt it?

Let’s just say yesterday was not so nice.

We slept over at my parents’ place so I was hoping to be getting some kind of break from the kids. Nope. Didn’t happen. Add to the worsening fact that my insomnia stinks. Slept at 5AM and Martha was up and about at 8AM – so not her usual time. And someone please tell me why my fully potty trained child is now peeing all over the house except the bathroom?

So anyway, I was hoping I’d get my money yesterday too so I was all set to pay some bills. It didn’t happen. Why? Because yesterday was a holiday – how could I ever NOT remember that? My mom lent me some money to pay off the electricity bill because they were going to pay theirs but SURPRISE — I cannot find the electricity bill!! I called up Edil at 12:30noonish to find out if he had it and WTF!?!?!?! He was SLEEPING!!! (He claims to be supervising their house’s fence installation though - Im not that stupid to believe him!) Can you tell I sound so bitter? I slept at 5AM to wake at 8AM to find out our daughter has peed on the bed. Then I deal with their tantrums the first thing in the morning.

*sigh*

So end of story, I need to wait until we get served the disconnection notice before I can pay. And I need to pay in Tagaytay or any Meralco branch. Edil will have a fit. Because I, for sure, do not know how to drive there (Guess I can come back with him sleeping until noon now).

But wait, there’s more. We come home. I check my account — no ATM in sight.

It’s lost in the joke of what is yesterday.
