Wishing for a Vacation.

The year is about to close and instead of shopping like what everyone must be doing these days, we are saving and trying to pay off all debt so we can have a clean slate for next year. Next year we are hoping we can take a vacation, a much-needed one, for all of us. It may not be at the Myrtle beach golf course but we hope it will be somewhere where happiness lives for all time (mystery much?). We just need to work harder.

Enjoying my Time Off

Well, not really time off but I have been enjoying laying down low on the web. Im not on my usual hangout on the web, Twitter, all the time. I havent been in the mood for chatting with friends as well. Im still online though, just not ON-line, if you understand what I mean. End of year season usually makes me reflect on how much I “fared” on my opinion this year and this year, I’m giving myself a higher grade than last year. I also have this insane urge to freeze time so I can make sure we remember this year, hence the barge of journaling the ancient way: pen + paper. Having kids have been the ultimate blessing for me. They make me conscious of my life so I can leave behind a legacy they can be proud of.

Payables have also started coming in, and we are in due big pay-off starting this month. We will turn in Edil’s big bonus on getting ourselves HMO cards and maybe some term life insurance

There is no place like home.

We went to Manila for the weekend and I longed for home. Sure I had a blast being at the mall (which had everything I wanted for a change), it was nice to catch up on friends. But I had trouble sleeping because I longed for my bed. Our bed.

For one thing, it was so hot – make that humid. And considering traffic was not that bad as I remember, there was still traffic (which I’m not used to na). It was a good thing we were using the Rev O. If we used the Oner, O.M.G. (Hahaha) – I’m sure Id have a tantrum, Edil will be irritable and Martha will have an asthma attack.

Manila has my friends, my connections, my money.

But I have family here. I’m closer to God here.

And that is all I really need.
I really have changed.

Is to get all of ous, but priority-wise are the kids, health plans.

With our recent hospital admission (where two of us were hospitalized – Me and Martha!), I realized that we cannot afford to get sick – it was draining to our non-existent savings and money. When I got sick, on day 2 I wanted to get admitted already but held back because I knew we dont have any money for admission – how sad, isnt it? It is a good thing my aunt is an administrator at the hospital we went to so we got some relief.

We cant always rely on that connection all the time.
So Im scouting for health plans.
Any recommendations?

We went to Manila yesterday because I needed to have the princess checked up with her pediatrician pulmonologist. It’s been four months since we had her checked up (she is on treatment for Primary Complex and has asthma and needs to be checked every month) and with her constant poo-ing and recent cough we thought it was time to really go. Good thing there really was nothing to worry about it.

Of course we just endured almost seven hours of transport, half of them commuting with traffic to consult with her doctor for 15 minutes which cost us half a thousand pesos. But she is healthy. That is all that matters.

Boy, I will never get tired of saying this – the air in Manila sucks BIG time. Live in a place with clean air for a month and you will know what Im talking about. Im also trying to adjust with how MANY people are really LIVING there – congested. That is Manila for you.

It Gets Lonely

Really.

I wish I can put into words the loneliness I feel everytime the night creeps in and Im the only adult in the house. Even during the day, I dont have a decent companion to talk my common interests too, save for the laundrywoman who is actually a doll and my parents – but there is a limit in things you would like to talk about.

It has been more pronounced with our internet-less house (I applied for relocation connection by the way today).

What can I say. I really miss the husband everyday.
It doesnt get easier, even with me having the kids all by myself all day.

Crisis.

I just got some bad news that two of our family friends has lost their homes in the US because they couldnt keep up with the monthly mortgage payments anymore. That and the news the employment there has been having massive lay-offs and retrenchments. Even big companies are in freeze hiring. If this crisis can happen in a big wig country like the US, what more small countries (add to that a country laden with corrupt officials and a government filled with red tape) like the Philippines?

It really is a crisis.
God help us.

Of Babies and Spacing them

So a friend of mine and I got into chatting what would be the perfect time to have another baby. Most of my friends and relatives are having (or just had) their firstborns (most of them are in Martha’s batch). So since most of them are two years old, the talk of making another one is natural. I would love to have babies – I actually want many of them – but sadly, I have to admit that I cannot take care of so much without going mad! I am so inspired by mothers who seem to still keep it cool and look fab even if they have 5 kids under 7! I might also run out of baby girl names .

So what is the plan? We want four or five. But the Baby Number Three will appear when Martha is four or five and then Baby Four and Five just a year after (But who am I to make plans. I just hope I wont get preggo anytime within the next TWO years hahaha!)

Events Thinking.

My aunt has been trying to convince me that we put up a business on event planning – ever since my wedding, she has been trying to tell me that I have great concepts and an eye for detail so this is going to be an easy job for me. Unfortunately, I dont think I have the patience to deal with people who are demanding, fickle-minded and well, ones who think that I am required to give them something beyond what they want (and paid) for. I really want to be involved in conceptualization and making sure the details are good – but I dont think I have the energy to push through with everything. So if you need ideas for parties from the invites (like baby shower invitations for example), to the theme, to the nice “games” and even outfits, you can ask me. But to ask me or even PAY me to orchestrate everything? I think I dont have the heart to do it yet
