NPA.

We might as well be classified as NPAs - people with no permanent address.

All my mail are still addressed and forwarded to Manila. I still dont trust that I will receive mail here. Imagine, at my parents’ place, their address is “—-, Bgy. Dagatan, —-, ——”. No numbers, no street, no anything. Dagatan is like how many kilometers?!?!?!!?

Now, our house doesnt have an address. The owner doesnt know the address. So we are camping out on “their” house’s address! I used their address to apply for my internet access’ relocation and by golly wow, Id be so mad if the antenna would be put into their house.

There is a story behind this NPA thing.
Im just too busy to get into details but I promise it is a funny one :P
Maybe next time.

Bugs and Crawling Things

The only downside in living in the province is you get to be acquainted with almost all kinds of bugs - the flying, the crawling, the ones that make noises, and the worse - the ones that bite. Our delicate skin, accustomed to airconditioning, is a favorite biting place. You should see my arms.

It is ironic that my lungs get fresh air while my skin needs to toughen up like a cow’s hide to be able to withstand the bugs at night. Otherwise, Id need to use a kulambo (mosquito net) soon.

Or maybe I need to a bed frame for our bed.
Other than that, I have developed courage and have been squashing spiders as big as my hand (I kid you not) without batting an eyelash.

I just open my mouth, scream and then close my eyes and try to hit the target.

Finally.

After a week of PAG-ASA stating there is no typhoon, just monsoon rains, they have announced there is a typhoon (Juliana) in our country. If there is not typhoon with the way the winds are howling where Im at, Im very scared what a typhoon will be with just monsoon rains for over a week already. I miss the sun. Grey days make me gloomy and depressed and a bit temperamental. It doesnt help that I think PMS-ing.

Anyhow, if the weather cooperates, I will be doing some walking outside. I need fresh air.

A Bug’s Life

One of the things that were so out of control at our old house is the abundance of fleas. We dont know of any kind of flea control that is available in neighborhood. It got so bad that sometimes we just put out all lights at the evening because the bugs and fleas were flying all over the bulbs. It was nasty! With the new house, we dont have any bugs (because the windows have screens and there are a few trees. A modern house in the suburbs. I like that :)

It’s Grey Gloomy and Depressing

We still havent moved in, the boxes and everything are on a pile at the new house and there are still clothes and knick knacks at the old house. We didnt do anything this weekend but eat, sleep, watch TV and stay inside. We blame it on the weather, really (and not that we were just plain lazy:P)

Anyhow, lots to do today. Since Edil went back to Manila to work (It’s unfair he left me to do all the dirty work, it’s not as if he takes care of paying the bills ALL by himself, right? :P) Im left with moving things around. I need to make sure we can sleep at the house by Friday or Im dead! We are currently homeless people bumming around my parents’ place, HAHAHA! :)

The new house is smaller so we just need a console table with drawers. It has a great white wall perfect for pictures, a flat panel mount for the LCD TV, and everything else.

Catch is, we dont have the LCD TV :(

Our Need for A Car

Or specifically, us and our need for a vehicle to get us around. I know I should be worrying about me learning to drive first, but Im sure it is super easy to learn how to drive after I recover from being easily shocked and surprise all the time. I remember the first time Edil let me handle the wheel, it was chaos. We were like galloping on the road and the car was our gallant steed :).

Edil is going to be getting the car scheme from their company by next year and he will leave the jeep at home so I can go around. Here, having a vehicle is a necessity as everything is so far from each other (Im talking about miles here). The market, grocery store, the church, even the MALL, takes 30minutes to get to (and there is even no traffic). Edil has been very obsessed (mildly that is) with getting us our own car, our own home, etc. While I surely appreciate the efforts and planning, I told him we need to take it slow as we are going 100miles an hour with our life changes lately.

Back to the car talk, I really dont want a standard car, if given the choice. Id like an SUV (a 4-wheel drive) and/or a minivan so we can have more kids :). When we go out, our jeep is packed with a pillow, bags, extra food (the kids and us munch during long drives - it’s cheaper than going to a drive-thru). Car Insurance Quotes are cheaper these days because of the sagging economy and analysts say that if you have extra money, now is the perfect time to invest on properties. Why, we just passed by the Ford dealer cars warehouse and they have an ongoing promo, that if you buy a car, you will get three years worth of car registration, one year car insurance and one year supply of gas FOR FREE!!!! Im sold on the gas alone!

Secret Revealed.

Remember this?

Well I promised to reveal it on August 1st, so here it is: We are moving houses AGAIN.

After three months of living in a very nice (big) house, we are moving. AGAIN. To a smaller, newer, cheaper house with running water everyday (ALLELUIAH!) that is closer to my parents. I have decided to embrace domesticity (Yeah right) and let my maids go. Truth be told, I just cannot handle the stress of being angry at our helpers all the time. It isnt emotionally healthy.

And no, Im not a martyr, Ill still be hiring a laundrywoman/helper once or twice a week to help me. But Ill be forced to cook. If Im tamad to cook, we can always walk to my parent’s place. LOL.

Im going to post pictures as soon as we have moved boxes. Which is going to be today, if the weather cooperates.

Work Online

Life in the Suburbs
Day 4 - June 20, 2008

I needed to work online for most part of the day. Martha has been a pain, but Matthew is really torture. I really need to keep my cool because I tend to snap a lot. That’s not good.

Had a nice talk with a friend who visited.
Im trying to keep my sanity (and grace).

____
Im have been having serious scrap-hybrid itching. I have organized my hybrid supplies and even found some Thermal labels I dont need. My Dad will sure need them.

The Gift of Fresh Air

Living here takes a lot of getting used to - transportation after 10PM if you are commuting is hard, water supply is every other day, garbage collection is zip|nada|nil, but the thing is you learn to adjust, cope, adapt. One of the many things though that I love is how clean the air is here, and how, even if it is hot, it is not really humid - you just feel hot, but the heat doesnt eat you up. Ever since we got here, the kids havent been sick at all. They are actually thriving. If we were in Manila, Im sure that by this time the kids are sick because of the changing weather. I cannot afford an EcoQuest air purifier but wouldnt it be nice if we had one in the city? Again, it is not about living in the city per se, but living in the area we lived at.

Day 4

Life in the Suburbs
Day 4 - June 19, 2008

Sunsets + Grandparents + KFC + Shrine

1. It was nice. We got to go the Shrine and visit my parents. I also had time to pray. I so wanted to go to vigil but the kids need to be tucked in bed by 9PM (Matthew actually). I need to device a plan next week. I need to have some quiet time with the Lord.
2. I practiced shooting in manual mode. Got some nice pictures of the sunset and the kids walking with some shots of Lola and the kids. I want to, next time, capture moments. Now to practice being obscure.
3. KFC = playtime for kids.
4. The only downside of the day was Matthew’s tantrums. I really need to learn to control them. It is not that my son has ADHD, he is just very sensitive and moody.
5. Plans for NCLEX | Nursing | Teaching is being thought over. I have been dreaming about medical id tags. I hope it comes to fruition this year.
