Tips for Using a Fire Pit
Gone are the days when people will make a random bonfire just about anywhere. Nowadays, the warmth of an outdoor fire is often acquired from an outdoor fire pit or a gas fire pit. Just like open bonfires, fire pits provide a great opportunity for a lot of bonding activities with your family or friends. You can host an intimate dinner party in your yard and you can do some cooking using your fire pit. On some cold nights, you could just sit outside talking with your husband or children while the fire pit keeps you warm.
Although there are a lot of advantages to having a ‘fire pit, you should always observe safety when using it. Below are some tips that could help you when you are using your fire pits.
· Keep your fire pit far away from anything that could get burned. Be especially wary of tree branches or leaves from plants.
· Light your fire with a fatwood stick. It is better than using gasoline or charcoal firestarters.
· Always start with a small fire when using your fire pit. If you are using fuel to start your fire, use minimal fuel to make sure that you do not get burned by an instant huge fire. Observe how your fire pit burns and uses air before adding more fuel for a bigger fire.
· Keep a fire extinguisher close. Always be ready for any accident or emergency.
· Use safety gloves. Sometimes you could forget that a lot of the materials you will be handling are hot. Having gloves on will ensure that you do not get accidentally burned by touching something hot.
· Use hardwoods like oak and hickory if you want fire with less smoke.
· After using your fire pit, make sure that the fire is completely extinguished.
