Healthy Snacks For Kids

If you have kids, you might have encountered the picky eater and the grazer – stages of childhood which can be extremely frustrating for parents who want to teach their children to eat well and make healthy choices. Chances are, they often love biscuits (Goldfish anyone?) and do not even take a second glance on the cut up fruits and steamed veggies you have painstakingly prepared. You are not alone. There are a lot of parents who are clueless what to give to their children and feel frustrated that the “good” food always take a lot of time to prepare yet are not even appreciated nor tasted!

As parents, should we give in to what is easy and loved by our kids or should we try and make them like what we want them to eat?

Here are some healthy examples of snacks for your kids:
1. Cheese

7. Eggs – One egg provides a 4-year-old with almost one-third of her protein requirements for the day. Keep a bunch of hard-boiled eggs in the fridge – they last for seven days), or scramble an egg.
8. Sweet Potatoes
9. Hummus – Made from pureed chickpeas, hummus is an excellent dip for kids. It has an appealing nutty flavor, is thick enough not to be messy, and contains folate, vitamin B6, and iron. You maybe familiar with this if you love Greek food (similar to a tortilla)
10. Noodles – Pasta is a fabulous source of complex carbohydrates.
