I’m a healthcare professional – not exactly a practicing one but a professional just the same. I know our field is a basic need of the community and many times it is often hit by controversies, criticisms and anomalies.

I know sometimes waiting in the ER can be a real pain, but the assumption of people that nurses and doctors actually prolong one’s stay in the ER to up the costage is unfair. Health care professionals and the hospital administration are very liable to lawsuits so they have very strict guidelines (SOPs – standard operating procedures) so it sometimes take time.

You also have to consider that case brought to the ER are unknown and come from different types requiring various fields of medicine – it takes a while to have a proper referral!
