Enjoying my Time Off

Well, not really time off but I have been enjoying laying down low on the web. Im not on my usual hangout on the web, Twitter, all the time. I havent been in the mood for chatting with friends as well. Im still online though, just not ON-line, if you understand what I mean. End of year season usually makes me reflect on how much I “fared” on my opinion this year and this year, I’m giving myself a higher grade than last year. I also have this insane urge to freeze time so I can make sure we remember this year, hence the barge of journaling the ancient way: pen + paper. Having kids have been the ultimate blessing for me. They make me conscious of my life so I can leave behind a legacy they can be proud of.

Payables have also started coming in, and we are in due big pay-off starting this month. We will turn in Edil’s big bonus on getting ourselves HMO cards and maybe some term life insurance

Offline

This week I will be offline most of the time. November is fast approaching and I have got the most serious where-has-the-time-gone-by-I-havent-dont-anything-for-the-year-yet syndrome. I want to spring clean my house and dispose of junk (again) to make room for the junk (ahem, joke) coming for sure this holiday season.

Wish me luck. I’m doing room number 1 and tackling the roomful of DVDs and toys first. Then I move onto clothes and then rearranging the kitchen. I need to see if there are kitchen sinks that are cheap. I want to install another one near the cooking area.

Another Week Flew By

With what I think had zero happenings. I swear each weekday goes by at snail pace and then when weekend hits it’s like a tornado happening. I better learn pacing myself.

There’s only two months left until Christmas! I still have a dozen plans to firm up. I need to decide what kind of decors we will have, our family clothes (we usually color coordinate on family dinners which actually happen around 5 times all around the holiday season), and lastly, our schedule. Since we live in the province, going to Manila can get expensive. So we need to cluster activities so we can save on gas. That’s why I am trying to research on activities I want the kids to see in Manila.

Plus we need to order the furniture and install wirings for the house. Im not really sure about the wires and the network Edil plans to use to connect the PC to the TV and have wi-fi and all (it involves used cisco wires I think) but I need to nag him about it too.

Random Stories from the Twitter EB

image

I think the pictures speak for themselves. I talk too much, and laugh too loud.

Here are some random anecdotes I remember from that day:
1. I have a new name. I’m Tita Maggie now, according to Sandy.

2. I think I was so enamored with the kids I wasnt able to talk that much to the mommies.

 image

3. All mommies were seriously prettier in person. Well, except for me, modesty aside. Good thing I dont have acne or else I’d be such a BIG loser (pun intended hahaha).

4. I was really bitin. I didnt expect people would start packing up after the giving of gifts. If I had known I would not have initiated the gift exchange. Hahahah.

Until then.

House Plans and More

Lately, Edil and I would always talk about the house we will have someday. We often discuss land locations, area sizes, what to put in rooms, color schemes, what type of roofing we want to have and everything else. If you ask me, we might as well have the house already because all our plans are laid out, except for the money part :D It’s funny how much we have in common with regards to tastes and style preferences but can be complete opposites with everything else.

We would love to have a large lot, with a nice lawn and a small garden. We don’t like multi-level houses, we’d prefer bungalows with high ceiling. If we will get a second floor, it will just be a loft for books and an area for alone time.

We also mesh well with the color scheme tastes. He doesn’t seem excited with my love of orange for walls or accents but got convinced when he saw orange accent designs on the cherrywood furniture he wants.

He will leave the kitchen up to me, he just would like to have an island or a breakfast nook that has bar stools as chairs. We used to have that on our first home when I was a kid. Think of a canteen separating the kitchen from the ordering area. Edil wants something like that. Of course, with kids we would need extra tall stools for the kids. That would be nice.

Edil is also big on entertaining. Coming from a large family of eight siblings with a mom who can cook up a fiesta each time, they celebrate their birthdays every year with a giant party where everyone can come. Even if they are 25 already :D Edil would rather invite friends over than go out. So he wants to have a bar complete pub tables. I actually found this Cherry Finished Bar Set with Matching Bar Stools and showed it to him:

And of course he liked it. (It seems a little old fashioned to me but I guess it’s because of the shape of the stool legs). When not in use I think I can use this as a workstation in the living room (where it’s going to be, just in case) with my laptop.

House planning is such an overwhelming chore. It really consumes you that you cannot think of anything else. If only money is as endless as the ideas in our heads…

Curtains or Blinds

I forgot to mention that we have curtains already. I altered the floor length Egyptian linen curtains my Mom had ever since we were kids and it fit perfectly. The only problem is that the curtains are a bit thick so it got a little warmer in the house. It is actually nicer during the evenings when it is cold but during afternoons, I feel like we are still in the city. It’s either I get nice ribbons or have them made so I can tie them together during the day or we replace them with bamboo blinds. I’m of course partial to the latter. I love my Mom’s curtains. The bamboo blinds look nice though, look:

Garages and Carports

The nice thing about living in the suburbs is the wide space between houses. It is common here to have a small house with a wide open lawn and garage that can fit it three cars. I love that the kids have plenty of space to run around and enjoy themselves without having to go out on the road and risk themselves getting hurt. I do have one complain though. The garages here do not have roofs, making it hard to get in and out of the car when it is raining. And it has been raining a lot lately. People here can have carports installed. I think this will be easy to do, economical and will really be useful in the long run.
